Religion in Sociology
Religion always was a significant part of human society and a powerful tool of operating minds. Religion has been studied for centuries in different fields of science. Historians, theologists, and philosophers have always wondered what role religion plays in life of a human being. This question cannot be answered in a few words. It is a complex subject that requires further research as it touches upon many aspects of life and science. Sociology does not stand aside. As sociology is a science about human society, it has to explore all sides of society's being. The paper analyzes researches on religion and explains its role in sociology and life of an individual.
Modern sociology of religion began with the analysis of religion in Emile Durkheim's 1897 study of suicide rates among Catholic and Protestant populations. Later, works of Karl Marx and Max Weber focused on the relationship between religion and the economic or social structure of society. Today's sociology of religion specifies on issues such as secularization, civil religion, and the cohesiveness of religion in the context of globalization and multiculturalism. These topics reveal the religion's influence on society.
For example, many sociologists claim that religion will decline in modern society while speaking of the process of secularization. The major point of this statement is that religion loses its ability to influence the individual's behaviour nowadays. Regarding multiculturalism and globalization, religion is one of the key factors that have an impact on the relations between different cultures. As beliefs have different philosophies, they form various kinds of morality systems. These differences in morality may cause multiple misunderstandings between cultures and are to be studied more particularly. This is especially important to international diplomacy and foreign policy of major nations.

Thereby, religion has a significant impact on modern society and its development. Role of religion is hard to underestimate. People get encountered with it even if they are not religious. Thus, religion has to be paid attention to as it is present in every field of people's lives. Religion affects economics, politics, and morality. Though some sociologists suggest religion's decline in the future, number of believers still grows, and it must be taken into account while developing the structure of society. In my opinion, sociologists should concentrate on finding ways of controlling religion's influence on individuals as this influence may not always be useful.
Encounter with the Healthcare System
My last encounter with the healthcare system was not that long ago. I had to visit the ophthalmologist in order to check my eyesight. In general, the visit itself was fine, everything went quick, and doctors were attentive and kind to me. However, the period before I entered the doctor's consulting room was not very pleasant. At first, the administrator directed me from one office to another in order to book an appointment with the doctor. When I finally got to the right office, I had to wait in line for about half an hour. In general, these circulations took me about an hour before I finally could check my eyesight.
Thereby, my last encounter with the healthcare system was not as positive as I expected. The time people spend waiting in the line and making an appointment with a doctor make any process more difficult by giving a person multiple routine tasks and extending the waiting for the actual service. This creates a poor impression and makes people feel uncomfortable in public institutions.
